The LINGLAND project aims to strengthen bilingualism in the Slovak-Hungarian border region in the fields of tourism, hospitality, and trade through Linguistic Landscape research. Therefore, a comprehensive Linguistic Landscape Directive will be developed and bilingualism measures will be implemented in a pilot.

The overall goal of the project is to improve the level of bilingualism on both sides of the border as well as to promote cross-border communication. Cross-border cooperation and mutual understanding. Our main goal is to encourage sustainable development in the fields of tourism, hospitality, and trade.

The direct goal of the project is to map the Slovak-Hungarian border area based on the Linguistic Landscape methodology. This will help develop a comprehensive Linguistic Landscape policy and a systematic plan for implementing the measures. Within the framework of the project, a multilingual menu generator (Hungarian, Slovak, English, German) and a Slovak-Hungarian bilingual e-learning language course will be developed within the framework of the development of online services. In addition, we will launch a rating system for bilingual service providers.

The project targets local and cross-border regional tourism, hospitality and commercial enterprises, their employees, municipalities, supermarket chains. In order to strengthen the bilingualism of the population of the border region.

As a result of the project, studies will be carried out with the help of Slovak-Hungarian cross-border research, which will form the basis of the guidelines, teaching materials and e-learning courses to be developed. Within the framework of the project, 50-50 bilingual info boards will be placed on both sides of the border. We equip 20-20 restaurants or cafes with bilingual menus in Hungary and Slovakia. As part of our online services, we develop a four-language menu generator. We will launch a rating system for bilingual service providers.
