Promoting Entrepreneurship in the Vocational Education (ProVocEnt)
Program: SKHU / 1601 – Priority axis 4 – Enhancing cross-border cooperation between public authorities and people living in the border area
Entrepreneurial skills are essential to a successful life today, yet they often go untapped or neglected. The Hungarian-Slovak border region is no exception: the utilization of entrepreneurial skills is far from one hundred percent in this area as well.
Going further, the topic, in general, is that the teaching of entrepreneurial skills and competencies is an often debated and difficult topic among professionals on both sides of the border.
Despite the difficulties, however, it can be observed that every year thousands of students graduate from vocational schools who have the professional knowledge to start new businesses or new start-ups. and work in them as successful professionals. However, in the absence of good examples, incentives and entrepreneurial skills, they are alarmed to use their professional skills in new businesses or in old family businesses that are just about to be transformed.
This is one of the reasons we believe that equipping young people with entrepreneurial skills can play a key role in reducing youth unemployment and developing the local economy.
Our project aims to create educational tools and a support network for VET students that will direct their interest to businesses and help them acquire the right skills to pursue an entrepreneurial career. In addition, we want to support the economic development of the border region by demonstrating the diversity and new opportunities for start-up cooperation between countries.
As a result, our target group consists of the following subgroups: young people in their penultimate vocational school year; young professionals; vocational schools and educational institutions. We hope that our results and products (studies, e-learning materials, teaching methods) will be good practices in the field of economic development in the country.
