Individual placement and support for unemployed “NEETs” young people not in education or training through the Educational Youth Technology Platform – Individual Placement and Support for NEETs through Education Youth Technology Platform (EYTP)
Grant Fund: EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Youth Employment
Project implementation period: 2018. September 1 – August 31, 2021 (36 months)
Short description of the project
The current economic and social situation in the European Union results in a high unemployment rate for “NEET” young people who are not in employment, education or training. These young people often struggle with mental illnesses such as depression or anxiety, which poses additional challenges for them and makes it difficult for them to find employment. The two main target groups of the project are counseling trainers and the “NEET” young people themselves.
The main objective of the project is to strengthen the advisory competence of the trainers in the so-called Maturing Model (MM) and the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) methodology, as well as through the Educational Youth Technology Platform (EYTP). In this way, the project contributes to the increase in the number of “NEET” young people participating in vocational training, education, and employment.
The project focuses on two areas of support:
1) Innovation and research
The innovative area represents the development of a comprehensive, web-based EYTP platform. This will be an important source and tool for consulting work. The online materials and the project website supporting the use of MM and IPS will be available in the languages of all partners.
2) Transfer knowledge and good practice
This area of support aims to transfer the expertise and use of MM and IPS through Norwegian trainers. Participants will learn the methodology through Norwegian and local training and then introduce and implement the methodology in the beneficiary countries.
IPS is a systematic approach that helps “NEET” young people achieve permanent employment. The IPS is based on the principle of Supported Employment and offers a regular follow-up to participants. MM provides individual time for “NEET” young people to gain motivation and prepares them for more formal counseling using the IPS model. The combination of the MM and IPS methodologies provides a two-step counseling method for the internship and professional rehabilitation of “NEET” youth. This two-step methodology, as well as the use of EYTP, will be transferable to other organizations in addition to the project partners, thus achieving a sustainable impact beyond the project.
